Picasso and Gothic Museum Morning Tour
This walking tour will take you to discover the history of Barcelona, from the Roman era to the medieval period up to the 20th century, by the hand of the famous painter Pablo Picasso. The name of Barcelona comes from the Latin language, specifically from Barcino. This was the name the Romans gave to their foundation. Some remains of this primitive settlement are still visible at the Gothic Quarter, where we will take you to discover more things about the history of the city through its medieval cobbled and tortuous streets. You will learn more things about some of the most important places in the city, like les Rambles and the Cathedral. The next part of the tour is the Born’s neighbourhood, where we will enjoy the fabulous view of Santa Maria del Mar church, built in a superb gothic stile. Between narrow streets we will find the Picasso Museum. This is the only museum that has been created whilst the painter was still alive, and it’s an interesting place to appreciate the beginning of his career. During the guided tour you will understand Picasso’s artistic evolution, always in parallel to his biography. At the end of the tour you can remain inside Picasso Museum as long as you like. Skip the Line Sagrada Familia Express Fully Guided Tour
The first time you see the Sagrada Familia, you’ll probably be unsure of what to make of it. With tall airy spires that seem to defy gravity and seemingly cartoonish artistic details, Gaudí’s most ambitious project challenges and stuns over 3 million visitors per year. Today, it’s the most visited building in Spain. Your English-speaking local guide, an expert in all things Gaudí, will share stories and anecdotes that will help you get the most from your visit. Highlights: - Visit the Sagrada Familia, a UNESCO-listed masterpiece of Catalan Modernist architecture, which showcases Gaudí at the peak of his talent - Our trademark Skip the Line access means no waiting in the famously long lines at the Sagrada Familia, potentially saving you hours of time - Your expert local English-speaking guide will enrich your visit with the fascinating stories surrounding the construction of the Basilica and the genius behind its conception - A personal headset is included so your guide can provide continuous commentary to enrich your experience. - Limited groups of 25 people or fewer ensure you won’t feel lost in the crowd. We’ll marvel at the two stunning completed façades and eight dizzying towers inspired by the peaks of Barcelona’s holy mountain Montserrat. After more than 100 years of tireless work, the façade is still under construction and it’s easy to appreciate why. Our guide will share tales of Gaudí’s love affair with his final work, how he considered the project his personal holy mission and the great personal sacrifices he made to ensure its completion. Sadly, he would not live to see it finished. Such was the complexity of the design that despite taking on the project at 31 years of age, Gaudí only lived to see the completion of one facade, one tower, the apse and the crypt. Our trademark Skip the Line access will bring us straight past the long entrance lines and into the heart of the Basilica. You’ll feel as though you have stepped into an alternate universe. Gaudí’s characteristic dislike for straight lines will become disorientingly evident as we pass beneath rows and rows of tree-like pillars. Though construction is ongoing and not estimated to be completed until 2030, much of the Basilica can be visited today. The entrance fees collected from groups such as ours continue to ensure enough funding to see Gaudí’s dream through to completion. The Basilica was consecrated and declared a minor Basilica in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. Whether you have visited the Sagrada Familia already or this is your first time, this constantly evolving masterpiece will never fail to surprise and inspire you!
