Park Güell - Early Access
Meet the popular Güell Park, which has over 100 years of history, with an early access to avoid crowds. Highlights - Essential knowledge - History of the Church - Tradition of dedication to the Saints - Impressive architecture The origin of this park starts from 1900. When Barcelona was a modern and cosmopolitan metropolis, the engineer Ildefons Cerdà studied in depth the difficulties of the modern city growth, Barcelona expanded very rapidly throughout the second half of the 19th century. Its central area began to take shape as a large bourgeois centre. The Universal Exhibition of 1888 promoted the search for a new artistic language and urban representation. The main architectural feature of the park is based on the art nouveau, this form of art began to spread from Glasgow to Brussels and then to Barcelona recovering former construction techniques such as the Catalan vault (or timbrel vault) and old craft styles, while at the same time taking an interest in the expressive potential of iron. Skip the line Park Güell Express Tour by Bus
Save your precious time with our express tour to Park Güell! Enjoy a short bus ride to the park where you will have plenty of time to explore the marvels of Gaudí’s creations and be back to the city center to enjoy the rest of your day. Start your tour at a convenient location near the Sagrada Familia basilica, from which point you’ll travel in comfort by private coach to Park Güell. On the way to the park, your guide will bring you back in time with the interesting stories about the early 20th century, when Gaudí was first commissioned for this project. Park Güell was originally meant to be a gated community for Barcelona’s wealthy inhabitants - Gaudí tapped into all aspects of his creative and architectural genius to design the park and residential community. But the original idea didn’t catch on with the Barcelonians, which means we now have the opportunity to experience this public work - showing Gaudí at his most creative. Upon arriving, your guide will lead you through the hidden corners of the park, and eventually to the Monumental Zone where you’ll skip the line and enter to see the famous Serpentine Bench and ‘El Drac’, the marketplace and the public square. Enjoy an hour of unguided free time to wander at your leisure, taking spectacular photos of Gaudí’s creations, including his signature Trecandís technique, comprised of broken tile mosaics. After the tour, you are free to stay in the park on your own to wander for longer through the fantasy world of Gaudí, or climb to the summit of the hills for stunning panoramic views. Alternatively, once your free time is completed, you can return to the center of the city, Plaça Catalunya, on our comfortable coach.
