It was built between 1842 and 1853 as a synthesis of artistic European styles. It is a monument built by Karabet Balyan, architect of Sultan Abdulmejit. It is a 3 story building with a symmetrical design. There are 285 rooms and 44 halls. 14 tons of gold and 40 tons of silver were used in its construction. It has the largest ball room in the world. It has a chandelier in 4.5 tons weight hanging from its dome in 36 meters height. It is one of the most rich historical palaces in the worlds as 15 ton of gold and 20 of silver used in decoration inside it also it divided to 3 parts Selamlik, Haramlik and salons also it has very magical place on the European side of Bosphorus.
