You’ll dig right into this Bangkok tuk tuk tour by riding one from the very start. Your local guide will ride along with you and you’ll whizz through the busy streets of Bangkok, stopping at the marvellous Phra Sumeru Fortress, where you’ll learn a bit about the history behind this area. Next stop on the tuk tuk ride is the Amulet Market, where locals sell all kinds of traditional Thai amulets, charms and medicines. Your local guide will explain everything you need to know about these quirky bits and bobs and what part they play in Thai culture. The knick-knacks and spooky bits and bobs have all kinds of different meanings in Thailand, from good luck to warding off evil. Fret not because you’ll get the lowdown thanks to your guide so you need not walk around looking completely baffled. Time for another tuk tuk ride and this time you’ll pop along to Wat Saket which is a terrific temple that lies at the foot of the Golden Mount. You will climb your way up the 318 steps (unfortunately your tuk tuk can’t lend a hand this time around). Once you’ve caught your breath at the top you’ll be treated to a 360-degree view of the surrounding old Rattanakosin Island. So all the steps are certainly worth it! You’ll hop back in to your tuk tuk and head down to Phahurat Market which finds itself in the heart of Bangkok's Little India, where you’ll come across all kinds of fabrics, cloths, ornaments and accessories. As well as the arts and crafts stuff, there will be a range of tasty Indian treats sold in stalls along the way. This place has managed to get the perfect mix of Thai and Indian culture bang on the money – it has to be seen to be believed! Moving on, head to Pak Klong Talad or the flower market. The flower market is the biggest and best in Thailand and is open 24-7. Every kind of flower imaginable can be found here and the market acts as a distribution centre, shipping flowers all over the rest of the country. Wasting no time it’s on to Wat Po, the temple that houses the most beautiful reclining Buddha image of the country which was also the birthplace of Thai massage and medicine. Round things up by doing a tour of the area, listen up as you hear some local tales along the way. If you want to call it a day, the guide can point you in the direction of your accommodation from the temple. On the other hand, you can carry on and go it alone – it’s up to you!

Bangkok by Bike

Bangkok roads conjure up images of traffic jams stretching from sunrise to sunset; the last thing you'd want to do is try to battle through that on a bike! Peaceful Bangkok Noi however, on the Thonburi side of Hong Kong, is an entirely different story. An area that few people know about, this is the perfect place for an invigorating half-day, two-wheel adventure, spanning a gentle 20km through Bangkok's lesser-known territory. Enjoy an insightful commentary on local customs, history and culture at each stop from your local, English-speaking guide. Crossing the Chao Praya River, you'll soon lose yourself in an intriguing network of narrow roads and waterways. Historical records suggest the old Bangkok Noi dates back to around 1546AD. Begin your journey on mainland Bangkok near Khao San Road in Banglamphu, winding through the back streets of Suburban Bangkok, along the river, and cross the famous Rama VIII Bridge. Traverse a local community who famously concoct an addictive mixture of betel nut, lime and a mulberry leaf you can try. Passing the King's Royal Barges, you'll follow a well-worn path along Bangkok Noi Canal to the spectacular Wat Arun area, well known for its intricate architectural design, fascinating history, and religious diversity seen in its beautiful Buddhist temples, Mosques and Portuguese Churches. Take a spin back across the Chao Praya River to Pranakorn, via the Memorial Bridge built in 1929 to mark Bangkok's 150th anniversary. Take in the largest seated Buddha in Thailand at Wat Suthat, before checking out the giant swing Sao Ching Cha, an impressive installation representing the movement of the God Shiva. We guarantee you'll catch the Bangkok biking bug! Languages English. Others Children below the age of 12 years are not permitted on this biking tour in Bangkok.
