Intimate groups of 15 people or fewer will guarantee easy access to your guide and the opportunity to ask anything you might want to know; from why Raphael is buried under the Pantheon, to where you can get the best pizza, or whether you should tip your waitress. Get acquainted with Rome in a fun, hassle-free way on this guided stroll. Traveling with an expert local guide, you'll learn to navigate the sometimes chaotic yet beautiful streets of Rome. Visit top sights like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps, as well as hidden gems like the historic Piazza Navona underground area. Along the way, you'll pick up plenty of expert tips that you can put to use during the rest of your vacation. Start your tour in Piazza Navona, less of a plaza and more of a grand outdoor art gallery. You’ll learn about the political intrigues surrounding Bernini’s Fountain of Four Rivers as well as some of the artistic in-jokes that he carved into the stone. Going further than the average visitor, you'll descend into the little-known Piazza Navona underground to explore the ruins of the Stadium of Domitian, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover the ancient origins of the now-iconic square and touch the layers that form thousands of years of history. Next, you’ll head into our favorite site in Rome; the 1,900-year-old Pantheon. In the early evening, this marvel from Antiquity is much less crowded than it is during the day, and your guide will take full advantage of the serenity to tell you about the history of the iconic dome. After your visit of the Pantheon you’ll stop off for a scoop of gelato — Italy’s legendary answer to ice cream — included in the price of the tour. Next, you’ll stroll to the iconic Trevi Fountain. Your guide will explain the history and lore of the fountain before instructing you on how many coins to toss in depending on what wish you are hoping to fulfill (throw enough in and you might meet your soul mate!). Finish your evening stroll at the famous Spanish Steps. Classic cinema fans will recognize this as the setting of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck's legendary scene in Roman Holiday. Rome is full of mysteries, but being able to see with our own eyes the exact spot where it was born is certainly an incredible experience. Our tour of the Velabro is a journey through time that starts from around 3000 years ago to the last century, to the places and stories that marked the creation of the capital city of Italy. But where does the word "Velabro" come from and what does it mean? It is said that the valley going from the Roman Forum to the Tiber was often submerged by the river water and became, over time, a swampy area. The word 'velus', that is 'marsh' in Latin, was used, and was then changed to 'velabrum', describing the peculiarity of this area. The main characteristic of the valley is that it is considered to be the area where the brothers Romulus and Remus, founders of Ancient Rome, were found in a basket along the river. Legend has it that they were found by a she-wolf who took them in and looked after them. However, it is said that it was not an animal, but a poor courtesan woman named "Acca Larentia" who seems to have frequented the place to earn her bread and consequently found the two abandoned brothers. The guided tour starts from Truth Mouth and you will visit all the important monumets around walking into a "magic circle" so the visit will end where it began .
