Mala Strana tour - Private
A guided stroll around the gems of the lesser town. Put on your walking shoes and visit the Mala Strana, also known as the lesser or small town, one of Prague’s most picturesque districts. Best visited on foot due to its beautiful but narrow cobbled streets, this guided walking tour will give you an in depth insight into some of the architectural gems of the area. Located a short walk across the river from the old town, the Mala Strana nestles in the shadows of Prague castle. It dates right back to the eighth century although a war in the 15th century and a subsequent fire in the 16th century devastated all of what was once a market settlement. Today the feel of the place is distinctly Baroque as many Italian artists settled here and participated in the construction of palaces and churches. At the heart of the district is the Malostranske Namesti Square from which cobbled streets lead off into a maze of quaint shops, bars and restaurants. Don’t forget to bring some money to sample some of the local delights or buy some traditional souvenirs on your way round. Aside from this, the tour gives you the opportunity to admire some of the majestic palaces not to mention the terrace of the famous Strahov Monastery from where you can enjoy stunning views over the Lesser town and Prague. A visit to the Church of Our Lady of Victoria offers you the chance to see the Infant Jesus of Prague and a display of 80 historical outfits one of which was hand made by Maria Teresa. The tour also takes in the Baroque Church of San Nicolas with its awe-inspiring frescos, paintings and statues. Languages Spanish

New town tour Nove Mesto - Private
Investigate the splendours of the New Town in Prague. Called Nove Mesto by the locals, the name is nowadays a misnomer as the district dates back to the 14th century and offers the visitor some of the most wonderful architecture in Prague. Perhaps the most well known of places in the New Town is Wenceslas Square. Built originally as a horse market, the square has been the centre of many important historical events, most notably an uprising in 1989 which contributed eventually to the fall of communism. Nowadays it is a vibrant area full of shops, restaurants and hotels. Not only did the New Town have its horse market in the 14th century but it also had a cattle market located in Charles Square and a hay and straw market in Senovazne Square. It may be hard to believe today, but the construction of the new town meant that Prague became Europe’s third largest city. As you wander around the area you will behold a vestige of the greatness of the place in its heyday. Visit Republic Square to see the impressive Municipal House, built on the site of King Wenceslas’ Royal Court Palace. Go to Alois Jirasek Square named after the famous Czech dramatist who lived there. See his statue preside over the square, now a curious mixture of old and new. Gaze in wonder at the modern face of Prague in the shape of the ‘dancing house’. Finally, enter the bullet riddled crypt of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Church to find out about the incredible story of the seven Czech parachutists who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich in 1942 and held off 800 Nazi soldiers for hours before being brutally killed. This tour of the Fascinating New Town is an essential on any holiday itinerary for those who love history, culture, architecture and beauty. Languages Spanish

Theresienstadt concentration camp tour from Prague
Pay homage to a tragic chapter in European history at Theresienstadt, the concentration camp where nearly 35,000 Czech Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and other ‘undesirables’ died during World War II. Just north of Prague, this stately 18th century Austrian fortress was converted to a grim Jewish ghetto after the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia. Follow the road out of Prague that led many prisoners to this hellish camp, and discover how a sleepy little Czech town became part of the Final Solution. Step through the entrance where the sign ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ (Work Sets You Free) still conjures the terrors of the camp. Your guide will lead you around the complex, explaining its history and recounting true personal stories of despair and horror, but also those of hope, kindness and bravery. Theresienstadt lives in infamy for its role in 1944 as the carefully staged ‘paradise ghetto’ which convinced the Red Cross that the Nazis were treating the inmates humanely. Yet although Theresienstadt had no gas chambers, it still traded in brutality. Over 140,000 people came through its doors, and half never returned from their ultimate destinations: the death camps of Auschwitz and Treblinka. The site remains a deeply moving and disturbing relic of a shameful period of history. At the Theresienstadt memorial, take a moment to walk quietly among the grave markers and remember the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust. This educational and deeply affecting tour will leave with you more questions than answers, but stands as a lasting memorial of a time that should never be forgotten.
