This artistic culture has led to Valencia being one of the best-known cities for street art in Spain, inspiring the birth of many local street art festivals celebrated throughout the year. On this Valencia street art tour, you’ll explore the historic district of El Carmen to uncover some of the city’s best graffiti and street art that’s hidden within the labyrinth of cobbled streets. We’ll share a few local tales and tell you how street art can be so much more than just graffiti on a wall. From our unique insider’s perspective, you’ll learn about the city’s local and international artists and the inspiration behind their intriguing works. Your Valencia walking tour will start outside the popular Mercado Central to check out some street art around the area, then continue on to El Carmen. Along the way, we’ll pass by iconic sights such as the UNESCO-honoured La Lonja building, all while discussing the street art that exists all around these sites. We’ll also stop in at one of the city’s oldest horchaterias to sample Valencia’s most beloved drink, horchata de chufa (a sweet drink made from tigernuts), accompanied with a tasty fartón (a sweet pastry). Live a true Valencian experience by heading out to the market in the morning, stocking up with all the nicest fresh ingredients, and then preparing traditional Valencian paella with your morning’s acquisitions. This tour doesn’t take you to any old market to hunt for your ingredients. You will head to Valencia’s Central Market, a true jewel of Valencian modernist architecture. Once inside this breath-taking space, mosey around until you find all of the best quality products for your upcoming paella. Once you have stocked up, go back to the Escuela and dress like a real chef. In the kitchen, you will prepare and cook paella with your own hands and ingredients, with the help of your very own Paella Master Chef, who will guide you through all the steps and give you the best tricks to prepare unforgettable paella. What’s more, during the cooking process you will be offered a wine tasting served alongside a traditional appetizer. Once the paella is ready, time to enjoy the fruits of your efforts! Wash it down with a taste of fine Valencian red wine, as well as several starters, salads and a delicious dessert, all typical food from Valencia.
