Afterwards, you will make your lunch break in Kalambaka town where you will have also the chance to explore the region’s modern-day culture. Retrace the route back to Thessaloniki, where you will arrive late in the afternoon. The excursion begins at Marina Zeas where guests will meet at 09:30 a.m. The first stop on the cruise is the island of Aegina, where we will anchor at the sandy beach of Agia Marina for 2 hours. Agia Marina beach is one of the most popular beaches of Aegina Island. There, guests will have the opportunity to swim and relax or even enjoy a variety of water sports. After two hours at Agia Marina beach, the cruise continues towards the quaint island of Agistri, a small island adjacent to the port of Aegina. After a quiet sail around this small island, guests will be able to explore the secluded coves on offer. Swimming and water sports can be enjoyed at the beach of Aponisos for an hour and a half. During our stay in the calm bay of Aponisos, guests will be served lunch, which will include a variety of delicious Mediterranean and traditional Greek mezes, accompanied by a selection of Greek wines, beers and soft drinks. We will conclude our cruise with a sail to the beautiful sandy beaches situated in the Moni Island, before heading back to Marina Zeas. During its construction, archaeologists worked alongside the developers and were able to recover more than 50,000 ancient items of archaeological interest. These intriguing finds are housed at museums throughout the metro system and this guided tour visits the four most important sites; Acropolis, Syntagma, Monastiraki and Keramikos. Begin your tour at the world famous Acropolis metro station where excavations carried out over an area of 2500m2 and revelled that this area had been used as far back as the 3rd millennium BC through to the Byzantine times. Archaeological digs revealed many ancient graves, houses, roads and baths that are on display for you to admire. Take the metro to Syntagma station, where the excavations brought up a sculpture foundry dating from the Classic Era, a cemetery dating back to sub-Mycenaean and Byzantine times and a spectacular baths complex dating back to the Roman times. Continue to Monastraki and learn about the embedded bed of Iridanos River, one out of the most significant findings of the dig. It was confirmed that the area had been in constant use from the Mycenaean Era up to the Modern times. A vast array of workshops, graves, water supply and sewage systems were revealed which were essential to the ancient city. Finish this fascinating tour at Kerameikos station and witness a section of the most significant cemetery of the ancient city of Athens. Over one thousand graves dating back to the beginning of 7th century BC and two burial grounds from the Peloponnesian War were discovered here, causing a stir in the world of archaeology.
