Highlights - Lose yourself in the majestic Tivoli Gardens - Enjoy thrilling attractions suitable for the whole family - Stroll around the lake at Parterre Garden Tivoli’s hundreds of trees and the many carefully designed gardens are part and parcel of the Tivoli experience. Each season of the year has its particular look, from narcissi and tulips in the spring over roses to autumn flowering perennials and hardier plants such as hyacinths, helleborus or even kale and cabbages. Tivoli’s Halloween and Christmas looks fit with the seasons. Halloween boasts 20,000 pumpkins and Christmas thousands of Christmas trees and spruce garlands. At night, Tivoli is spectacularly lit no matter what time of year you visit. Culture Make sure you check Tivoli’s daily programme before you visit. You wouldn’t want to miss half a great concert or show just because you forgot to check the start times. Tivoli’s outdoor venues give you live performances every single day: ballets at the Pantomime Theatre, music at the open-air stage or the Harmony Pavilion, parades with the Tivoli Youth Guard every weekend and rock or pop concerts every Friday. The indoor venues offer world class ballet and concerts which are well worth travelling to. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater are regular guest performers along with other great ballet companies. Jonas Kaufmann and Sarah Coburn are among the top performers who have played at the Tivoli Concert Hall. Rides and games Even if you are not a huge fan of rides, there are a few rides you shouldn’t miss when visiting Tivoli Gardens. The Ferris wheel gives you a beautiful view of Tivoli which is particularly pleasing at dusk just as the lights have been lit. The classic wooden Roller Coaster, built in 1914, is one of the World’s oldest wooden roller coasters still operating, and one of just seven roller coasters worldwide with a brakeman on board every train. Tivoli’s many quaint games add to the old-world charm of the popular amusement park. Battle against each other in the 5-game-tournament 5-Kamp or play, throw and shoot just for the fun of it. At Nimb the focus is on detail - and the guest is always at the centre of attention. Nimb style also features both the magic of Tivoli and a warm Nordic atmosphere. Nimb was built in 1909 as an Arab fantasy castle by Tivoli head architect and director Knud Arne-Petersen. Since then, the establishment has undergone many transformations and in 2007 Nimb was refurbished from top to bottom. However, the unique old-world charm is intact. Nimb Hotel has 17 luxuriously furbished rooms and suites. 21 rooms will be added in late 2017 when Tivoli Corner opens. The Nimb restaurants – Nimb Bar ‘n’ Grill, Nimb Vinotek, Nimb Brasserie, Fru Nimb and Nimb Terrasse – all ooze elegant yet relaxed atmospheres and aim for excellence in service as well as food and drink. Nimb Bar is the perfect watering hole before or after your business meeting in one of the many Nimb Events venues. See also trousers Mick Jagger bought in Carnaby Street and an aeroplane sick bag signed by him. The Doors, Madonna, The Who… they’re all here. Like all great revolutions, the Hard Rock Cafe wasn’t meant to succeed. It was 1971 and as the Swinging Sixties had given way to the Super Seventies, fashions and tastes were changing. Two hungry young Americans were in London and couldn’t find a decent place to eat a decent burger… so they opened up a joint in the English capital. Their landlord didn’t think it would last and only gave them a six-month lease. Four decades later, there are almost 200 Hard Rock Cafes in more than 50 countries worldwide. The first T-shirt hit the streets in ‘74 and the first piece of memorabilia came, fittingly, by chance in ‘79 when Eric Clapton asked to hang his Lead II Fender guitar over his favourite bar stool and thus marked it as his spot. Today, the rock 'n' roll collection has more than 74,000 pieces and is the largest of its kind. By 1982, the Hard Rock Cafe had gone global and the rest, as they say, is history (that’s still being written). Copenhagen old Town Walk

Looking for the charm of Copenhagen that hides behind cosy street corners? Where a plethora of quaint, creaky buildings give tribute to a bygone era? Search no further! These old remnants of the city are like finding a needle in a haystack (can anyone say fires?)… you have to know where to look (the evidence is rare but not extinct). On our small-group tour Copenhagen Old Town Walk, bounce back in time with us and be enchanted as we trace in the footsteps of Copenhagen’s historical roots, revealing the hidden treasures of the city. Walking our way back through history, we start off by taking a look at Rådhusplatsen, home to Copenhagen City Hall. A step further back in time will bring you to the squares Nytorv and Gammeltorv. We’ll journey past the Church of Our Lady (also known as Copenhagen Cathedral), where an Australian commoner became a Crown Princess; look up to the stars (or to the top of a tower) like astronomers have done from atop The Round Tower; and take in colourful facades of the houses surrounding the historical hangout Gråbrødretorv. Oh! Did we mention the Danes have a sweet tooth? If you do too, you'll enjoy the visit to the Bolsje factory. Before we end, a short walk along the main shopping streets, weaving our way in and out of secret alleys, will bring us to a view of Slotsholmen (“Palace Island”), with the impressive Christiansborg Palace, a hot spot for both royalty and politicians. There it is, our Copenhagen Old Town Walk – short, sweet (did anyone say Bolsje?!) and complete. Psst…there’s more! The story of Copenhagen doesn’t end here… what about the fairytales, fishermen, palaces and playhouses? Complete the story of Copenhagen with our Copenhagen City Walk (But first a break! Because when in Denmark, do as the Danes do… eat a smørrebread for lunch! Yum!) Language English

Copenhagen City Walk

Raiders and rulers and show-biz, oh my! From Viking warriors and ferocious fires to creative kings (and queens!) and title of the happiest people in the world, there are enough tales to tell about the Danes and their history to compete with Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytales (and he wrote over 156!) The reoccurring theme: Copenhageners love the water! For centuries, they have thrived by the seaside, first as a centre of trade and now a centre of... well... tourism, recreation, you name it! Whether sipping a chilled Carlsberg brew by the canal- side or taking a dip at one of the harbour swimming spots, much of the city is built along it. So it’s only natural that on our Copenhagen City Walk, we cover famous Danes, iconic sights and blasts from the past by... you guessed it, the water! We begin with the story of Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament (and once home to royals too!). Skipping along we’ll uncover the multicoloured townhouses of Nyhavn, once home to fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen; celebrate the city’s powerhouses of performing arts (and performers too!); and pay a visit to Amalienborg Palace, hoping to receive an invitation to afternoon tea with Queen Margarethe II, Crown Prince Frederik or Crown Princess Mary. To top it all off, we’ll finish this tale at Kongens Nytorv (a stone’s throw from Nyhavn), where you can set sail on a canal tour in search of Ariel and her friends (almost a requirement when you’re in Copenhagen)! Or if you want to channel your inner Emperor and look for some new clothes, why not continue along the main pedestrian shopping street Strøget, which begins right here?!

Cultural Christianshavn

Gaze down one of King Christian V’s most recognised masterpieces, Nyhavn, out into the lively waters of Copenhagen’s harbour. From afar, seeming to rise out of the sea, you spot a newly built residential complex. Hiding behind it are colourfully painted, crooked houses with slanting roofs. We skip across the “Kissing Bridge” that connects the two sides of the harbour to have a closer look (don’t forget to mind the bikes zooming by!). We’ve now arrived in a new district. Let our Cultural Christianshavn Walk begin! Here in Christianshavn, fascinating history is met by visual arts, alternative lifestyle (well, only in one area… can you guess which?) and popular boardwalk hangouts. Interested in more? Okay, we’ll indulge you! A woman’s prison, Michelin star restaurants (past and present), a military base and maritime history; the mix of the old and the new, artistic and avant-garde, together makes for a vibrantly cultural district of Copenhagen. Walking along the idyllic canals of Christianshavn, you hear the water rippling against the boats lining the narrow waterways. Don’t forget to look up (after crossing the canal) - you’re looking at the iconic spiral tower of the Church of Our Saviour. Turn the corner, walk a few blocks, and suddenly you’re met with a display of colour! You’ve reached the gates to the Freetown of Christiania. Before we let you go inside to explore on your own, we’ll end our Cultural Christianshavn Walk with the story of Christiania. Cultural, creative and crafty, this is Christianshavn! Others This tour ends outside the entrance to Christiania - it does not go inside (only Christiania’s own guides are allowed to guide inside). Guests are welcome to continue into Christiania after the tour on their own (it is approx. a 15 min walk back to Nyhavn).
