Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow

Glasgow is one of the cathedrals of rock ‘n’ roll and it was high time that its contribution to the world of music was recognised with the accolade of a Hard Rock Cafe full of rock memorabilia located at the Victorian-era Athenaeum Theatre. Feast on the beat American fare while admiring items from Scottish stars such as Amy Macdonald, Primal Scream, Rod Stewart, Angus Young (see the AC/DC guitarist’s velvet schoolboy outfit) and Clarence Clemons's bagpipes and kilt. Get VIP priority seating, skip the long lines and feel like a rock star! Highlights - Come to know just why Hard Rock Cafe finds itself in over 50 countries - Step foot inside a dining experience with a difference as you set your eyes over exclusive rock memorabilia - Choose from many menus and pick what suits your taste buds the best Like all great revolutions, the Hard Rock Cafe wasn’t meant to succeed. It was 1971 and as the Swinging Sixties had given way to the Super Seventies, fashions and tastes were changing. Two hungry young Americans were in London and couldn’t find a decent place to eat a decent burger… so they opened up a joint in the English capital. Their landlord didn’t think it would last and only gave them a six-month lease. Four decades later, there are almost 200 Hard Rock Cafes in more than 50 countries worldwide. The first T-shirt hit the streets in ‘74 and the first piece of memorabilia came, fittingly, by chance in ‘79 when Eric Clapton asked to hang his Lead II Fender guitar over his favourite bar stool and thus marked it as his spot. Today, the rock 'n' roll collection has more than 74,000 pieces and is the largest of its kind. By 1982, the Hard Rock Cafe had gone global and the rest, as they say, is history (that’s still being written). Choose from one of the following menus: Gold Menu Mains - Legendary Burger: 8oz Burger topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, golden onion-ring and served with seasoned fries - Veggie Leggie: Veggie patty with roast red pepper and chipotle aioli and topped with Monterey Jack and Golden onion ring - Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken, topped with bacon, cheese and honey mustard sauce served on a toasted bun with seasoned fries -Twisted Mac, Chicken and Cheese Pasta: Grilled chicken and a 3-cheese macaroni pasta with diced peppers and topped with parmesan parsley breadcrumbs -Chicken Caesar Salad: Romaine lettuce tossed in our homemade caesar dressing, topped with garlic croutons and shaved parmesan cheese Dessert - Lil Brownie: Vanilla ice cream and hot fudge on a chocolate brownie, topped with fresh whipped cream Drinks A coffee, a tea or a soft drink Diamond Menu Starters - Lil House Salad - Lil Wings Mains - Legendary Burger: 8oz Burger topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, golden onion-ring, served with seasoned fries - Veggie Leggie Burger: Veggie patty with roast red pepper and chipotle aioli and topped with Monterey Jack and a golden onion ring - Barbeque Combo: Pork BBQ ribs and hickory smoked pulled pork, served with seasoned fries, cowboy beans and classic coleslaw - Herb Grilled Chicken Breast: Grilled herb marinated chicken breast with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables -Twisted Mac, Chicken and Cheese Pasta: Grilled chicken and a 3-cheese macaroni pasta with diced peppers and topped with parmesan parsley breadcrumbs - Chicken Caesar Salad: Romaine lettuce tossed in our homemade caesar dressing, topped with garlic croutons and shaved parmesan cheese Dessert - Lil Brownie: Vanilla ice cream and hot fudge on a chocolate brownie, topped with fresh whipped cream Drinks A coffee, a tea or a soft drink

Culzean Castle, Burns Country and the Ayrshire Coast

Discover the landscapes and myths that inspired Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns. Departing from Glasgow you quickly climb into the Renfrewshire Hills where the first stop of the day will give you a glimpse into the future at Europe’s largest wind farm – big enough to supply clean energy to over 180,000 homes. From here the road south into Ayrshire is quick and easy passing through rich farming country with many small towns and villages. On arrival at Culzean Country Park you will have the choice of visiting the castle and gardens or just the gardens and woodland walks. An entry fee is payable on arrival. (Please note there is no free option at this stop). The castle dates from the late 18th Century – a peaceful time in Scottish history so it is less a defensive castle and more like a great country house with fine furniture and beautiful Robert Adam architecture. Sitting right on the edge of the cliffs looking out over the Firth of Clyde the views are superb and the surrounding gardens are beautiful. For those who like walking there are miles of tracks and footpaths through the grounds – taking in the Swan Pond, deer park, and walled gardens as well as rocky coves and sandy beaches. This will also be your lunch stop. After lunch you will follow the coastline to the tiny fishing village of Dunure with its ancient ruined castle and dark history. Continuing on, the road leads down into the village of Alloway. This is the countryside of Robert Burn’s – Scotland national poet - and you will see many places mentioned in his poems and songs –from Auld Kirk Alloway to the “Banks and Braes o’ Bonnie Doon”. The recently redeveloped visitor centre will tell you all you need to know about this remarkable man – born a poor farmer’s son but now famous as the writer of “Auld Lang Syne” – a song known and sung in friendship throughout the world. There are also riverside walks and the Auld Brig (old bridge) to explore as well as the haunted ruins of the old church. From here we return to Glasgow. Languages English
