Private Virgin Mary's House Tour
Make a special pilgrimage to the last home of Our Lady with this morning tour to the House of the Virgin Mary, just a few kilometres inland from Kusadasi. The discovery of the home was something of a miracle in itself and is part of its legend. The property is considered a Holy Place by the Catholic Church and has been visited by three popes. The small stone building is simple inside and has an altar with images of Our Lady and candles. The spring that runs under the house is believed to have healing powers. A collection of canes and crutches left behind by those who were healed by the waters bears witness to its curative properties. There is also a wishing wall where the faithful and the not-so-faithful leave requests. Mass is celebrated every day. According to tradition, the Blessed Mother was brought to Ephesus by the Apostle John in 37AD after the resurrection of Christ and lived out her final days here. And this was where the trail went cold. But in the early 1800s in Germany, a bedridden nun had visions of the Virgin’s House. Seven decades later, using descriptions based on her visions, two French priests discovered the house in 1891. Within a year, it had become a Catholic pilgrimage site. Archaeologists believe that the building’s foundations may well date from the first century, the time of Mary. This is tour is a spiritual journey that is open to all, whether religious or not. Its power is such that the house is also a Muslim shrine.

Private Sirince Village Tour
Let us introduce you to authentic Turkish village life on a trip to the picturesque village of Sirince, located 12km away from Ephesus and 30km from Kusadasi. The town was once called Cirkince, meaning ‘ugly’, perhaps due to the fact that its inhabitants did not want to open its doors to tourists. Nevertheless, the village later changed its name to Sirince, meaning ‘pretty’. Today the village constitutes a unique synthesis of Turk-Greek culture: after the Independence War, Orthodox Christian Greeks who lived here moved out leaving their typical Greek houses. Although these kept their original characteristics on the outside, their inside layout was transformed by the Turks to fit local customs. Some of the most beautiful of these unique homes are open to visitors. The old Greek inhabitants were famous for their wine making. The Turks who moved here in 1924 re-started wine-making using local fruits, including apple, apricot, banana, blackberry, blueberry, mulberry, mandarin, orange, melon, peach, cherry and strawberry. Taste the results and judge for yourself when you visit. As the village is located on a mountain, you will also have a chance to admire the view over the impressive vineyards and fruit trees of the surrounding countryside, as well as take in the Islamic culture further by exploring the local Mosque before leaving this pretty village.

Private Priene Miletos Didyma Tour
Journey back in time and visit three of the main archaeological sites in Turkey: Priene, Didyma and Miletos. Priene was established in 350BC, when it became Alexander the Great’s favourite place of residence. Athena’s Temple, the Parliament Building, the Fish Market, the Theatre and the city walls, are some of the attractions of the site. Didyma was the main centre for the cult of Apollo, the Greek god of divination, where priests used sacrifices and other methods to interpret the god’s will. The Temple’s dimensions alone (118x60m, slightly more than a football field) would have filled ancient pilgrims with awe, just as they still impress today’s visitors. Miletos is known as the Hometown of the Olympic Games; the symbol of the Games, a tripod with a flame, originates from the Miletos harbour lighthouse. The town was one of the largest of ancient cities and the birthplace of the alphabet and famous philosophers including the great town planner Hippodomus, father of the grid city plan. The tour will take you to the Theatre, where St Paul gave his emotional address to Ephesus’ elders, then to the Faustina Baths, the Harbour Monument and the Ilyas Bey Mosque. The tour includes transfers, air-conditioned transportation, lunch and a buffet breakfast enjoying scenic views over Bafa Lake, and all entrance fees, service charges and taxes.
