Escape the city and come face to face with the power of nature with this guided tour to one of Europe’s most impressive natural attractions: The Rhine Falls. Highlights - Visit picture-postcard villages - Travel back in time and marvel frescoed Renaissance façades - Witness the power of mother nature with a trip to the largest waterfall in Europe: Rhine Falls There is so much more to Switzerland than its bustling cities. From beautiful snow-capped mountains and immense lakes to quaint villages. Driving north from Zurich towards the German border, you will pass a stunning lower Alpine landscape that is famed for its vineyards. We’ll cross the picture-postcard village farming village of Marthalen. Almost every building appears to be a traditional whitewashed half-timbered house. In Schaffhausen, the town closest to the falls, you will see the 16th century Munot Fortress atop a hill overlooking the old town, which boasts a series of frescoed Renaissance façades. By now your appetite will have been whetted in expectation of the main event: the stunning Rhine Falls. Hear the roar and feel the power of mother nature as you witness the largest waterfall in Europe in action. With a drop of 23 metres and a staggering width of 150 metres, you will not be disappointed. When Frankenstein author Mary Shelley visited the falls, she described them as ‘exceeding anything I had ever before seen’. More than 160 years later, the sensation is the same for many visitors. Some of the views of the falls are simply jaw dropping. Allow yourself to be thrilled by this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. As an optional extra, you can opt to travel to the rock in the middle of the falls by boat and get right into the heart of breath-taking falls. Languages English, German (and Spanish on request).
