Wine was brought to Mallorca by the Romans who arrived to the island in 123 b.chr. Since tan wine was cultivated along the centuries and in the 19th century Mallorca had 35.000 ha of vinyards.Nowadays we have more tan 90 wineries, the smallest ones, just producing two wines, or 30.000 litres and the biggest, producing 1 Million ires per year Start your trip visiting the traditional and fascinating Raixa estate and enjoy the beautiful gardens. From Raixa the route continues along picturesque country roads through the wine-growing area of the centre of the island to Santa Maria, one of the most exclusive wine producers in Mallorca. There you will have a guided tour through the winery, where you learn more about the vinification and the philosophy of the owners, and then you will taste a selection of the excellent wines, accompanied by some delicious regional delicacies all made in Mallorca. Lunch is served in a restaurant in Santa Maria in a typical restaurant. The tour continues and you will visit another popular winery. Discover one of the most beautiful valleys on the island and admire the beautifull Tramuntana mountains that line the landscape far behind. The wines have received the highest awards. Enjoy them with a magnificent view.The third winery is also one of the best and most renowned on the island. Here, autochthonous varieties are blended with international ones to make magnificent wines with a Mallorcan flavour.
