Trip to Sintra, Cascais and Quinta Regaleira
Discover the beauty of Sintra and Cascais, where we will visit the famous Quinta da Regaleira Palace, on this day trip with the Buendia Tours team. What is there to see in Sintra? We will travel to the city that made Lord Byron and so many other romantic writers fall in love. We will learn all the secrets and legends that envelop this town’s history. We will see the unusual town hall building and the Municipal Chamber of Sintra, and we will approach the Moorish Fountain which, as its name suggests, reminds us of fountains we can find in Morocco. We will Visit the National Palace of Sintra, a UNESCO heritage site that stands out for its white colour and for its two large and conical chimneys. Inside this palace we will find some of the oldest and best-preserved tiles of Portugal. In the heart of Sintra we will see the São Martinho’s Church, which lost its Gothic style in exchange for its current Renaissance appearance after it was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake. Its atrium serves as a viewpoint from which we can see the Quinta de la Regaleira, our last visit before setting off for Cascais. The Quinta da Regaleira is a must see in Sintra, just 15 minutes from its historical centre. This estate is worth visiting not only for its palace and the rest of the buildings that make it up but also for its impressive gardens full of symbolism. It is an example of neo-manueline architecture of the XX century. It is composed of a main house, towers, gardens, a labyrinth of paths on a steep hillside with flowers, lakes, fountains, terraces, and statues. Masonic themes and symbols are distinguished throughout all the area. After visiting Sintra, we will head to Cascais, where we will give you some free time to take a walk through its historical centre and its promenade or to relax by its small Raina or Ribeira beaches and eating the traditional Portuese pasteis de nata. After having spent a great day and having discovered these unforgettable places, we will return to Lisbon. And if you still wish (and have time) to discover more about Sintra look at our Trip to the Palaces of Pena and Montserrate from Lisbon. You will have free time for lunch after the guided tour to explore the place as you please. Taste some exclusive Lisbon pastry shops, where you will find the typical Portuguese pasteis de nata, and pop into some legendary beaches. We are sure that you will not forget this experience. Our day trip is the best combination of the market, since you will save time on transportation. PUI: At Rossio Square (Dom Pedro IV Square) next to the fountain in front of the National Theater. Look for our guides, with a black umbrella. You will also see the logo of Buendía Tours.

Highlights - Explore one of the most important places of Pilgrimage - Visit the town of Aljustrel, home of the Three Little Shepherds - Take time to worship and attend a mass Embark on a journey to the legendary town of Fátima where you will visit the Sanctuary grounds, a place of great symbolism since the figure of Our Lady presented herself to the Three Little Shepherds between 1916 and 1917 to communicate a set of revelations. In addition to these sites at opposite points of the Sanctuary you will have time to observe other interesting places, such as the home of the Three Shepherds (Francisco and Jacinta Marto's house and Lucia's house), in the town of Aljustrel. It’s here where you will step back in time, as the house has been carefully decorated from the time using antique objects such as family photographs, clothes, kitchen utensils, furniture, among others.
