Pachacamac and Barranco
Explore Lima’s bohemian district of Barranco, where art galleries abound in the tree-lined walkways and pubs are scattered around the Central Park. Walk across the Bridge of Sighs; a lovely wooden structure spanning the Bajada de Baños, a stone walkway that runs down to the Pacific through Barranco. This laidback neighbourhood was the ‘the place to be’ in the 19th century. Be sure to capture your picture-perfect moment on the bridge with the stunning views in the background. Head south through Chorrillos district, dominated by a splendid seafront view. Find the swamps of Villa at the outskirts of the city, a great place to admire nature at its best while spotting the many species of birds coming in from the northern hemisphere as they stop for a rest on their way to austral lands. Next up you are in for a real treat with a visit to the temple of Pachacamac, an archaeological site. Built by different civilisations throughout the centuries and between the years 200 and 1450 AD, this religious compound is made entirely out of clay and houses the giant pyramids of the sun and moon. This comprehensive sightseeing tour will give you an insight into the culture, history and architecture of both the Inca and pre-Inca peoples. At the end of the tour you will have a choice to either return to your hotel or shop at the colourful Andean Market where you can stock up on souvenirs and practice your bargaining skills.
