Passing through the typical Dutch landscape we drive in approx. 1.5 hours to the Dutch Venice, Giethoorn. In this picturesque town with all it’s canals it becomes very clear how the Dutch people can live with and on the water. In Giethoorn cars are not allowed and little has changed over the centuries. You will enjoy this wonderfully preserved town walking and by boat. There are many types of boats, gondolas and punters, flatbottom boats that are used for transport on the canals. Our included one hour boat tour passes the skillfully restored farm houses. After this you will have some free time for lunch and be able to do some exploring on your own. Your guide can give you some tips on what to see and where to eat. After lunch we continue to the impressive 32 km long Enclosing dike in the Ijsselmeer, on of the largest lakes in Western Europe. It is a fundamental part of the larger Zuiderzee works, damming off the Zuiderzee, a salt water inlet of the North Sea, and turning it into the fresh water lake of the IJsselmeer. We make a stop for approximately 30-45 minutes before continuing on to Amsterdam.
