Asinara

 

Uncontaminated places, isolated landscapes, rare plant and animal species, the island in the extreme north-west of Sardinia, is a world by its own to be discovered. The landscape offers a vision of rounded hills covered by Mediterranean green and characteristic fauna like the white donkey. In the cove there is a village of the late nineteenth century, where there were the hospital and residence of the royal family of Savoy, today it is home of the Ministry of the Environment and tourism services. Witness of historical events is also the village of low and white houses of Cala d’Oliva, where lived the Antimafia magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.
