A Unesco World Heritage Site itself since 1999, the Museum Island is a unique collection of buildings. Near the Schlossbrücke bridge to the south of the island we find the first museum, Altes Museum, built in 1830 in a Neoclassical design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
