Giverny and Monet’s Garden Half-day tour from Paris - Small-Group
This day trip will lead you from Paris to the edge of Normandy, where you will first visit the idyllic home of Claude Monet. Highlights Small-group tour limited to 18 people provides an intimate experience Wander around the Impressionist painter’s former home Visit the gardens to see beautiful sights where some of Monet’s inspiration came from You will travel in style aboard a luxury minibus with one of our expert guides, so you can sit back, relax and make the most of your day. The leader of the Impressionist School lived here from 1883 to 1926, the colourful décor and pink brick facade are an intimate reminder of its former life. The precious collection of Japanese engravings is displayed in several rooms, hung in the marmer chosen by the master of Giverny himself. Claude Monet’s property at Giverny, left by his son to the Académie des Beaux-arts in 1966, has, after completion of large scale restoration work, become the Claude Monet Foundation, inaugurated in 1980. The huge Nymphéas studio, a stone’s throw from the house, has also been restored and contains the Foundation’s Shop. The gardens have been replanted as they once were and offer visitors the “painting from nature” which Claude Monet’s contemporaries considered to be one of his masterpieces. The rectangular Clos Normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around brilliantly coloured shrubs, lies before the house and studios, offering from Spring to Autumn the palette of varying colours to the painter-gardner who was “ecstatic about flowers”. Lastly, the Water Garden, formed by a tributary of the Epte, lies further away, shaded by weeping willows. With its famous Japanese Bridge, its wistarias, azaleas and its pond, it has once more become that casket of sky and water which inspired the pictorial universe of the water lilies. Languages

Notre-Dame, Ile de la Cité and St Severin Church Guided Tour
The tour meets on the far bank of the Seine river, from where we'll see one of the most famous and most storied cathedrals in the world. And despite the recent fire, Notre Dame still represents one of the most beautiful examples of Gothic architecture. Outside the cathedral itself, your guide will explain what happened that fateful afternoon of the 15th of April, and how the fire began in the roof, destroying the spire and causing severe damage to the interior. And you'll learn what the Parisian firemen did to preserve the cathedral's jewels as well as possible, with audiovisual aids from our guide. Once we've spoken about the destruction, it's time to learn about the reconstruction of Notre Dame, what the process will be, and how they're sorting through the hundreds of proposals being sent from architects around the world. Next we'll take a guided tour of the Ile de la Cité, as we discover the history of this little island in the Seine - the location where the medieval Paris was founded, and admire some of its most emblematic buildings, including Sainte Chapelle or the Conciergerie. Finally, we'll head to the Latin Quarter to admire one of the best examples of gothic architecture in Paris, the church of Saint Séverin, known as "Notre Dame's little sister" - a smaller but equally beautiful and imposing structure. We'll head inside to marvel at its architecture, stained glass windows and artworks. Others The interior of Notre-Dame is closed due to the fire, so there is no visit inside the Cathedral.

Ghosts, Legends and Mysteries Walking Tour by Night
Today Paris is the City of Love, the home of fashion and the centre of art and culture in France, but it wasn’t always that way. France, and Paris in particular, has a long, tragic history of murder and execution, of rampant disease among the lower classes and of bitter wars fought against a corrupt monarchy. Our Dark Heart of Paris tour takes visitors on a journey through this other side of the city – the rarely seen underbelly of the City of Love. The tour takes place under a cloak of darkness, winding down alleyways and cutting throught the hushed silence of the night. Following your English-speaking guide you will go to the sites of some of Paris’ darkest hours - the Place de la Vert Gallant where the last of the Knights’ Templar was burned at the stake; St Germain de Auxerrois where some estimates say 30,000 were killed in the St. Bartholomew’s Day massacre in 1572; and the Palais du Justice where those found guilty by the court were routinely tortured and executed before live audiences. As you walk, your guide will point out places of interest, filling you in on the full details of the gruesome history of Paris. No stone will go unturned as you delve into the dark heart of the city. Starting out with ritual worship in early Paris you will travel through generations wracked by the plague, the French Revolution, and the Paris Commune. You will learn about the characters that have moulded the city, from Henry IV to Marie Antoinette, and the serial killers that once stalked these very streets. The Dark Heart of Paris tour offers a rare opportunity to glimpse a side to Paris that you won’t see advertised on postcards. A chance to learn a little more about the City of Love and those who have loved, hated, died and murdered there.
