IMAX Theatre
Experience the hair-raising thrills and thundering waters of the Niagara Falls from the comfort of your Imax cinema seat – without getting wet! With its 18-metre wraparound screen and 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, the Imax Theatre Niagara Falls is the perfect way to make the falls come alive. Plunge over the edge, like the daredevils of days gone by, and see if you can survive the excitement! This spectacular Imax movie takes you back to the days when native Americans worshipped the thunder spirits and the first European encountered this wild wonder of nature. Meet the daredevils who challenged the roiling might of the falls, from the Great Blondin, who completed a death-defying tightrope walk over the river in 1860, to Annie Taylor, a 63-year-old schoolteacher who became the first person to go over the falls in a barrel and live to tell the tale. Share the heart-stopping terror of seven year-old Roger Woodward, who survived his plunge into the water wearing only a lifejacket. After the movie, discover the actual barrels and other rickety contraptions used by the daredevils in their frequently madcap stunts at the Niagara Falls Daredevil Gallery. Here you can confirm for yourself how flimsy some of these vessels really were. Finally call in at the famous National Geographic Store with its varied selection of educational toys, games and books. An unforgettable and awe-inspiring experience for all the family lies in wait at the Imax Theatre Niagara Falls.
