The new Vienna Ring tram will take visitors of Vienna on a tour of the most beautiful parts of the city along the Wiener Linien tram lines. IN AN EXCLUSIVE TOUR of the Spanish Riding School you will visit the unique baroque Winter Riding School, the Summer Riding School with the world’s largest oval horse walker and the stables of the Lipizzan stallions, which have been housed in the Stallburg (one of Vienna’s most prominent Renaissance building) for more than 450 years.You will see the various locations that make up the special charm of our historic institution and you will learn about our history, equestrian traditions and about our stars – the Lipizzan stallions! Like many grand Austrian traditions, the Lipizzan breed of horse dates back to the Habsburg dynasty when the Emperor Maximillian II brought horses from Andalucia to Austria to crossbreed with their best Arabian stock. With the growing popularity of dressage events amongst royalty and nobility in the 16th century, the Spanish riding school in Vienna was founded in 1572 and has thrived to this day. Marvel at the beautiful white and gray stallions in front of you and admire the incredible control that their riders demonstrate. This is achieved through years of careful nurturing and training and these horses are treated almost as well as the Habsburg Emperors centuries ago. Each rider is personally responsible for the training of the stallion entrusted into their care and the bond between horse and rider is evident to see. Languages English and German.
